Try some of the following recipes for extra coziness indoors.

1. Salted Caramel White Hot Chocolate

The key to making the best Salted Caramel White Hot Chocolate is to use fresh ingredients. This recipe calls for a few white chocolate candy bars and caramel syrup from the candy aisle.

Caramel syrup

Place a saucepan over low heat. Add the candy bars (broken into smaller pieces), a few cups of fresh milk and a teaspoon or two of vanilla extract. Stir together for a few minutes. Allow the candy bar pieces to fully melt.

Once they’ve melted, add a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg for added flavor. Continue to stir on low for about five more minutes. Once completed, add to a large mug. Top with whipped cream. Drizzle the whipped cream with caramel syrup. Once completed, sprinkle a little bit of sea salt for a tiny bit of saltiness to the mix!

2. Chili w/ Cornbread

Chili and cornbread go hand in hand. While most recipes taste better from scratch, this combination can taste amazing straight from a box. Over medium heat, melt a few tablespoons of butter in a saucepan. Add chopped onions, garlic, and mushrooms to the mix. Once they are fully sauteed, add your choice of meat and seasonings to cook. Once the meat is fully cooked, add in red kidney beans and tomato paste along with more seasonings to taste.

Once completed, serve in a bowl with toppings like guacamole, sour cream, salsa and jalapenos. For the cornbread, simply follow the directions on a simple box mix, but add a can of creamed corn to the mix for some extra flavor!

3. Fettucine Alfredo

Comfort food is all about the carbs! Pasta dishes are some of the most simple yet delicious to create. For some homemade decadence, use fresh milk, fresh cream, butter, black pepper, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese and salt to make Alfredo sauce from scratch.

Once all of the ingredients are cooked over medium heat, add in cooked pasta noodles and your choice of vegetables and meat. Popular choices include green peas, mushrooms and grilled chicken.

4. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

There’s really nothing quite like a classic grilled cheese sandwich. Pull out the saucepan again and melt a tablespoon of butter.

Spread more butter on both sides of two slices of bread. Put one or two slices of mild cheddar cheese in between the two slices of bread. On the saucepan, fry both sides of the sandwich for a couple of minutes and enjoy. Keep in mind that this is the classic route. To add more pizzazz, opt for different types of cheeses. Specialty cheeses like Gouda, Havarti and Smoked White Cheddar are all delightful options. In addition to cheese, add a few vegetables to the mix. Spinach, broccoli, tomatoes and avocados are popular choices for added nutrition and texture. For more kick, throw in a few jalapenos or add some minced garlic, basil or mushrooms. These flavors come together for a creative flair to a tried and true favorite.
